They fit camp chairs whose legs and frame tubes are held together by an internal shock cord, where a cap closes each tube end. Fit is decided by the tube's inside diameter, not by the brand, so any chair between 8 and 15 mm is covered. Rather than guess from the chair model, measure the opening — it takes a couple of minutes and it is always definitive.
Inside diameter or outside diameter?
Inside. The cap presses into the tube, so measure straight across the opening the old cap came out of, through the center. Measuring the outside of the tube will give you a size too large.
How do I use the printable measuring guide?
Download it, print it at 100% or "Actual size" with "Fit to page" turned off, then check the scale before measuring: a bank or ID card should cover the card box exactly and the bar should measure 50 mm. Then stand your old cap on the circles, body down, and read off the smallest circle the body fits inside — or lay the whole cap on the actual-size outlines on page 2, use the ruler, or cut out the taper strip and push it into the opening. It is free and needs no signup.
Why does the guide have to print at 100%?
Because the circles and the ruler are printed at actual size. Print dialogs shrink pages by default — often to about 94% — and at that scale a 10 mm circle measures about 9.4 mm, which is enough to send you one size down. The card box and the 50 mm bar exist so you can catch that before you measure.
I am between two sizes. Which do I pick?
The smaller one. A little under is fine: the head is 4 mm wider than the bore, so it still seats on the tube end, and the bungee is what holds the cap in. Go too far under and the head pulls straight through instead of seating. Oversize simply will not go in.
What knot should I use?
A figure-8 stopper knot. Thread the shock cord through the cap, tie the figure-8 so it sits inside the head, then pull the cord taut and press the cap home.
What are they made from?
A better performing material, engineered to last longer than the original cap. Engineered in the USA.
How many do I need?
Usually one. Caps go one at a time and it is normally a single cap that has failed, so a pack of 4 leaves you three spares for the next one. All 4 are the same size, and every cap is 27.5 mm long regardless of diameter.
My chair uses two different tube sizes. What then?
Measure each tube separately and order a pack per size. Packs contain a single size, so mixed-diameter chairs need more than one.
How does shipping work?
Free within the US, and out within one business day — packs are kept in stock, so an order placed on a working day ships the next one at the latest. It goes USPS Ground Advantage, typically two to five business days, with tracking by email. Outside the US, email us for a quote — international postage varies too much by destination to fold into the checkout, so we price it properly instead.
What is your returns policy?
If the size is wrong, tell us what you need and we will send it free — keep the first pack, since posting a few grams of plastic back costs more than the caps are worth and you may as well have the spares. Same for anything damaged, missing or not what you ordered: a replacement goes out, with nothing to send back. If you would rather have your money back, email us. Thirty days from delivery either way.
Do you do bulk or trade orders?
Yes. If you want a bulk order, or you run a shop and want to carry these, get in touch and we will work it out with you.
